My mother always told me,

That home is the safest place,

In this,

Whole wide world,

Full of wolves.

But I tell you,

I have seen,

Wolves,

Wearing masks,

Roaming around,

In my home,

Calling me

‘Sweetheart’

‘Doll’

And touching me,

With their rough hands,

Leaving scars on my body,

Scanning my body parts,

With their eyes,

Full of lust,

Locking me,

Inside the room,

And asking me,

To keep quiet,

While,

Snatching the essence of innocence,

From my soul,

Snatching my childhood,

Snatching my trust,

On relationships,

For the rest of my life.

My mother always told me,

‘Home is where you are safe’

I will tell my daughter,

‘Home is where the harm is.’
