“Mommy, mommy!!!” Dropping all of her shopping on the ground, she bent down to her daughter and asked her, “Yes sweetheart, are you okay?” “Mommy look! There! They’ve got handmade purses! Mummy can you buy me two? Pretty please with a cherry on the top?” “Two? Why do you need two?” She asked her. “I want to give it to my friend! Please don’t say no..?” Not being able to resist that innocent face, she bought exactly two of those purses. After all she was blessed with a daughter who never troubled her even while shopping. What more could she ask for?! Once they had reached home, while going through the days shopping, the little girl handed one of the purses to her mother and said “You’re my best friend mommy! I want you to have one purse and I’ll keep the other. We’ll be Best Mommy-Daughter Forever!” With tears threatening to flow, she embraced her baby girl in her arms. The girl knowing her mum’s weak spots began tickling her all over. Both rolled off the sofa and onto the floor, laughing their silly heads off, mummy and daughter forever.
Holding the purse in her hands, the little girl went through her collection of the little trinkets from her mum that she had gathered during the few years they had been together. Putting all the contents back into the purse, she pressed it close to her chest as tears flowed down her cheeks. Lying on her little creaking bed, barely larger than herself, she looked through the crack in the ceiling of the room in the orphanage that she now lived in, a silent prayer escaping her lips, “We’ll be Mommy and Daughter Forever…”
